Asetek® today announced that HP has expanded the availability of Asetek liquid cooling to include single processor Z820 workstations. Previously only available in dual CPU configurations, the more affordable single CPU Z820 with Asetek’s integrated sealed loop liquid cooling provides reduced system noise and increased productivity. The design win is expected to translate into an 8-10% increase in Asetek’s workstation business and is a key element in the company’s goal to increase its overall desktop division revenue by 10% in 2013.

Asetek® today announced that the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) will install Asetek’s RackCDU™ direct-to-chip “hot water” liquid-cooling system as a retrofit to NREL’s Skynet HPC cluster. As part of this liquid-cooling retrofit, the cluster will be relocated into the new data center at the Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) in Golden, CO, which is designed to be the most energy efficient data center in the world, with a PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.06.

Asetek® today announced its data center liquid cooling solutions will support a new initiative by the European Commission to reduce EU greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030. With the explosive growth of cloud computing, data center cooling has emerged as one of the world’s fastest-growing energy problems. Asetek has developed three solutions that will help contribute to the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions: RackCDU, ISAC, and Internal Loop liquid cooling.

Asetek® has been chosen by the University of Tromsø in Norway (UiT) for a pilot install of Asetek’s liquid cooling  RackCDU™ system in the university’s High Performance Computing facility. Asetek will reduce energy consumption of the data center and enable waste heat from servers to heat the university campus.

Asetek® today announced the issuance of two new patents. The first patent #8,358,505 is issued by the US Patent Office and covers technology used to liquid cool small form factor computing devices such as laptops, AIOs, or blade servers. The second patent #2005800500092 is issued by SIPO (State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C) and covers Asetek’s integrated liquid cooling technology for desktop PCs and data center servers.

Asetek® today announced that it has built a demonstration room in its San Jose, CA office to showcase the company’s RackCDU™, ISAC™, and internal loop liquid cooling solutions for servers and data centers. The room features a state-of-the-art Asetek RackCDU-cooled HPC cluster. The fully populated rack consumes 37kW of power at full load. The heat from the direct-to-chip and memory coolers is absorbed into liquid and rejected through the RackCDU connected directly to a dry cooler installed on the roof.

Asetek® today announced that its ISAC™ (Inside Server Air Conditioning) has been selected by the DoD (Department of Defense) to participate in its TROPEC (Transformative Reductions in Operational Energy Consumption) program. TROPEC is a collaborative Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Energy (DOE) program that targets game-changing enhanced energy efficiency for critical applications at military forward operations, such as data centers and communications.
