In hopes of reducing the noise on my overclocked 3.16Ghz Apple Mac Pro, the engineers at Asetek installed liquid cooling. In this video, I compare it to a more expensive 3.2Ghz Mac Pro. Give it a watch to see how liquid cooling allows my machine to run faster and quieter while maintaining the temperature of the CPU.

Our CEO, André Sloth Eriksen challenged our team of thermal experts to show how liquid cooling technology makes it possible to run Intel’s best desktop processors in an all-in-one design. We decided to make a short video to show how we did it. Sit back and watch as I give you the tour.

With Dell’s latest move in the gaming business Asetek can now finally rightfully claim the market leadership. There is plenty of marketing literature that explains why market leadership is important so I will not go in detail about that besides stating that it is pretty important in terms of margins as well as future growth opportunities. Dell is the inarguable market leader in the PC gaming space both in terms of revenue as well as unit shipments and since we are now designed in as a 100% attach, Asetek is de facto the market leader in the liquid cooling space both in terms of volume as well as revenue.

As you have probably noted in the press, HP has launched two new workstations: the Z400 and Z800 with Asetek liquid cooling inside. First and foremost, this is obviously a validation of Asetek as a company as well as our products. Moving from the gaming segment with its requirements and in to a commercial segment with different requirements is not a trivial task. For those of you knowing what “Crossing the Chasm” theory is all about you will understand what I mean. Asetek successfully crossed the chasm from gaming.

As you might remember from some of my previous posts I mentioned that although Asetek had officially withdrawn from the retail/channel market, it would still be possible to buy Asetek technology as an end user going forward. Well this is what happened last week as Corsair released their new cooler – the Hydro 50…
During the last couple of years we have discussed numerous times how to leverage the strong loyalty and support we have from the enthusiast community without compromising our OEM focus. We decided to look for a partner with a strong brand in the enthusiast market and see if we could find a good fit both from a brand but also a quality and integrity perspective. We were in contact with a few companies, but it quickly became clear that Corsair was the perfect fit. They have a global brand, a global and loyal customer base, a global channel as well as outstanding products that they stay behind.

As many of you may know, I am originally from Denmark - the home of contemporary Danish design furniture and companies like Bang & Olufsen (B&O), whose futuristic designs for HIFI and home entertainment are second to none. Keeping these design trends in mind, within a short time, my guess is that the design of PC’s will continue to evolve into very cool looking small devices with good performance and low noise.

We all know that any noisy electronic device like a projector, gaming console or a PC is quite annoying. We also know that there are pretty simple solutions to the problems, so why is it that we have to accept it? Or in other words, is it fair that we have to accept noisy devices, when there are simple solutions to it?

Originally I had not really planned a Part II, of this post. However, after reading a couple of press reviews of our LCLC recently, I got inspired to follow up on the heat pipe VS liquid cooling thing again.
If you have not read Part I yet, you should do that here

Thank you for reading Part I. It is now time for part 2, where I will go more in detail with the business as it looks today.
After getting the VC funding we started on doing a lot of parallel tasks such as expanding our management team and spreading it out in the US, EU and China. We started the development of the Asetek LCLC, which is different in basically all aspects from retail grade liquid cooling. The IP of this solution goes many years back, but we never really started the development until we got the VC funding.

This is a question that I have gotten numerous times during the last 3 years from our worldwide supporters, customer base among overclockers, hardware enthusiasts and gamers and not the least the press. In order to provide a better understanding of why Asetek has been somehow silent in the enthusiast community I will release two articles describing in more detail how Asetek started out, where we are today and where we are heading.

A good friend of mine and a board member in Asetek; Henri Richard inspired me to write this article. However instead of asking the car question, Henri was asking whether air cooling or liquid cooling was the best. My reason to pick the car analogy instead, is because the answer here is really simple and clear; it depends on what you need it for…
