As graphics chips are becoming hotter thermal management and low acoustic noise emission is no longer just a question about cooling the CPU silently. Asetek focuses on system level designs and the hybrid technology based graphics cooling system effectively removes heat and noise from all heat generating components on modern graphics cards. In order to keep cost down, and as memory modules and VRM's does not require liquid cooling anyway, Asetek has developed, and patented, a hybrid technology where memory and VRM's are cooled by heat pipes that transport the heat to a number of cooling fins that again are cooled by a slow running fan. Typically the acoustic noise emission is as low as 25 dB(A) in all ambient conditions, where traditional graphics coolers emit around 45 dB(A) in hot ambient conditions.
The most powerful component on a graphics card - the GPU that can extract up to 200W is cooled by Asetek's high performance liquid based cold plate. The cold plate is daisy chained with the rest of the Asetek LCLC liquid loop and does therefore not contribute with any acoustic noise what so ever! There are other advantages to Asetek's hybrid technology, as by separating the memory and the GPU cooling, the GPU cold plate is a generic design that fits all GPU's on the market, and only the air cooled part is special made for the specific graphics card. This means that the OEM only have to carry one SKU for the Asetek LCLC system, and does not have to worry about different graphics cards vendors.
Furthermore the OEM can mount the air cooled part in advance, and does not have to mount cold plate etc. until the assembly of the PC. Finally the design is made so simple, that end user will be able to upgrade their graphics card to future revisions, just by buying a new gaphics card with the air cooler pre installed from the OEM, and at home the end user only have to remove the GPU cold plate from his old graphics card and mount in on the new graphics card. In other words the Asetek graphics cooler is future proof. The Asetek hybrid technology graphics cooler has ultra high performance. Compared to a stock nVIDIA® GeForce® 8800 GTX cooler, the Asetek solution offered 15'C lower temperatures at both GPU and memory, while significantly reducing acoustic noise emission.
