Innovation

Liquid cooling is inherently superior to air cooling in its ability to capture large quantities of heat from a small heat source such as the surface of micro-processor chip and moving that heat to a location where it is convenient to exhaust it from the chassis. Prior to Asetek entering the market, computer manufacturer’s of all but the most expensive super-computers where dissuaded from using liquid cooling by several factors: 1) complex installation requirements, 2) excessive end-user maintenance, 3) poor reliability, and 4) high cost. Asetek innovations have eliminated these barriers to using liquid cooling to enhance performance, reduce noise and increase reliability in a wide range of high performance computer markets.

These innovations make Asetek’s cooling system easy and cost-effective to manufacture. More importantly the simple structure allows for a high reliability and an industry standard life time of 50.000 hours (MTTF). The life time and reliability of the Asetek solutions are tested and validated by a 3rd party lab. Life time report is available upon request.

Drop-in Liquid Cooling Solutions

Design for Manufacturability, within the context of computer manufacturing operations, is a cornerstone of Asetek liquid cooling solutions. Prior to Asetek, installing liquid cooling essentially required OEMs to call in a plumber. Delivering factory sealed liquid cooling loops that install with the same ease as installing chassis fans and air cooled heat sinks is a major Asetek innovation.

Low Permeability Materials Enable Maintenance Free Liquid Coolers

Asetek liquid cooling systems are factory filled and sealed to cool computers for their entire service lives.  Prior to Asetek, liquid cooling systems required users to periodically add fluid, much like adding fluid to an automobile radiator. Refilling often led to the introduction of micro-organisms that grew and ultimately required flushing the cooling system. This is fine for automobiles, but unacceptable for busy users and IT departments. Careful selection of materials with low permeability enabled Asetek to innovate a maintenance free liquid cooling system.

Integrating Pump, Cold Plate, and Reservoir into a Single Compact Unit

Combining four traditionally separate components into a single unit that mounts atop the CPU or GPU in place of the heat sink makes Asetek liquid coolers easy to install in mass production environments. This patent pending approach reduces connections within the liquid loop enhancing reliability and minimizes the material required to build cooling systems making Asetek systems friendlier to the environment.

Modular Design Makes Liquid Cooling Affordable

Asetek liquid coolers are designed in a modular fashion enabling a high degree of part and sub-assembly commonality across our product lines. Utilizing common parts increases purchasing quantities, enabling Asetek to negotiate better costs. Utilizing common sub-assemblies improves manufacturing efficiency, lowering costs and raising reliability.  The result is liquid cooling with a price to value ratio that appeals to significant segments of the computer market.

State of the Art AC/DC Hybrid Pump

AC and DC pumps have different advantages and disadvantages. DC-based pumps are high performing and their direction of rotation is easy to control. However DC motors typically require a drive shaft that passes through the wall of the liquid chamber. On the other hand AC-based pumps are very reliable and the stator and drive shaft can be completely contained inside a liquid chamber. The innovation was creating a cost effective AC motor that only rotates in one direction. Knowing the direction of rotation enables Asetek to optimize the design of blades that circulates our cooling liquid.  Our hybrid technology provides a low power, high performance, highly reliable, cost effective pump. Typically a 10th the cost of industry grade pumps!
