Do you want to know how it feels to drive a Formula car? Well, you’ve come to the right place!
In collaboration with Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen, we’ve developed a setup to replicate the feeling of a real-life Formula car. Not only is he one of the most experienced F1 drivers on the grid, having participated in over 150 Grand Prix races, but he also has a wealth of experience from various junior formula series like Formula Ford, Formula 3, and the Formula Renault 3.5 series. Therefore, we could not think of a better guy to help us develop this setup.
This setup has been developed specifically for the RSS Formula Hybrid 2022 for Assetto Corsa, and we chose this combination to make this setup as accessible as possible for as many people as possible. Formula and real-life racing cars are usually costly and inaccessible for a non-professional, so we saw this as an excellent opportunity to give you a chance to experience authenticity behind the wheel.
Now, if you’re an experienced sim racer, you may look at these settings and think they are very far from what you would typically use but remember that this setup at developed to replicate the forces felt at the wheel of a Formula 1 car like a true Formula 1 simulator. These settings may not be ideal if you want to go purple, but they are the way to go if you want an immersive, real-life formula experience in your sim racing setup.
As always, with these setup guides, we’ll list the settings individually. For this setup, the only difference between the La Prima, Forte, and Invicta wheelbase is how the overall force is handled. We’ll set all wheelbases to their max setting in RaceHub and adjust the gain in Assetto Corsa. This was determined to give you the best feeling and ensure you avoid clipping – something you will definitely not feel in a real-life formula car.
We’ll go through the RaceHub settings first, followed by the in-game settings of Assetto Corsa.
Steering range – 720°
Bumpstop Hardness – Hard
Bumpstop Range – -90°
High-Frequency Limit – 2200 Hz
Damping – 10%
Friction – 5%
Inertia – Off
Cornering Force Assist – Off
Overall Force – Max
That is 27Nm for the Invicta Wheelbase, 18Nm for the Forte wheelbase, and 12Nm for the La Prima wheelbase.
Torque Behavior Prediction – 1
Torque Acceleration Limit – 0,5
Anti-Oscillation – 10%
As an extra note for this particular setup, Kevin developed this with the Invicta Pedals, and he preferred the Invicta Long Travel Kit with the green elastomer from our Elastomer Kit.
Degrees of Rotation – 450°
Gain – Variable
That is 40% for the Invicta, 60% for the Forte, and finally 80% for the La Prima.
