Load Cell Pedals: Introducing Forte® Pedals for Sim Racing

Martin Bylund Larsen

Today we reveal an exciting new product that joins our line-up!

We are thrilled to introduce the Forte pedal set – the best load cell option for sim racers worldwide.

In Italian, Forte means “strong.” Exactly what we want you to feel as you race more than 150 mph down the straightaway.

With our newly developed M.L.C.P.C.™ (Mechanical Load Cell Powered Cylinder) technology, we have developed a load cell cylinder, which will offer a level of quality for sim racers that is simply unparalleled at its price point.

What are load cell pedals? And how do they work?

Load cell pedals are a type of pedal that uses a load cell sensor to measure the force applied to the pedal. The sensor is located in the center of the pedal and is connected to the pedal arm.

The force applied to the pedal is transmitted to the sensor, which converts the force into an electrical signal. From here the signal is transmitted to a computer. The computer uses this information to calculate the actions in the game based on these signals.

In the video below, Asetek founder and CEO André Eriksen show you the features of the Forte Pedals:

Do load cell pedals make a difference?

Yes, load cell pedals can make a significant difference in your sim racing experience. Here’s why:

  1. Enhanced Accuracy and Detail: Load cell pedals provide higher accuracy and detail compared to traditional potentiometer-based pedals. This improved precision leads to better performance on the track and a more realistic, enjoyable gameplay experience.
  2. Durability and Longevity: Load cell pedals are generally more durable and longer-lasting than traditional pedals. This means you can enjoy them for longer periods without worrying about frequent replacements.
  3. Cost-Effective Performance: While maintaining a high level of performance, load cell pedals are more affordable than hydraulic pedals. This makes them an excellent option for gamers on a budget who still want top-notch quality.

Want to learn more about the benefits of load cell pedals? In the video below, André explains our load cell design:

Load Cell vs Hydraulic Pedals

What Are the Differences?

Load cell pedals use pressure sensors to measure force, while hydraulic pedals simulate the feel of real car brakes using fluid dynamics.

What Are the Pros and Cons?

Load cell pedals offer high accuracy, durability, and affordability, but may lack the realistic feel of hydraulic pedals. Hydraulic pedals provide the most realistic brake feel and precise control but are more expensive and require more maintenance.

Why Pick One Above the Other?

Choose load cell pedals for a balance of performance, durability, and cost. Opt for hydraulic pedals if you prioritize the most realistic driving experience and don’t mind the higher price and maintenance.

Review of the Forte Pedals:

Will Ford of Boosted Media received a prototype sample from us.

Not to spoil anything, but he says, “At the price point, I think it is a bit of a slap in the face of the industry.” We’ll take that as a hard-hitting compliment!

As explained in the video with André, ‘Invicta’ and ‘Forte’ are not just names of our pedals; they are names of our product lines.

Invicta will be the very best we can do. Forte will follow closely as a high-quality mid-tier option. You can look forward to more product reveals in both lines later in 2022.
