History of Innovation

1997-2006

Asetek - Founded on Innovation

Founded as a private company by André Eriksen in 1997, and becoming incorporated in 2000, Asetek took the gaming and enthusiast market by storm. We introduced a new cooling approach to overcome the performance limitations caused by processors running red hot. By freezing CPUs down to sub-zero temperatures, our VapoChill enabled faster CPU speeds. Within five years of existence, we had both pioneered and become the world leader for vapor phase CPU cooling technology.

We invented the sealed-loop liquid cooler. Our all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooling innovations enabled high-performance PC and workstation OEM partners to provide the industry with better-performing prebuilt PCs.

Early on, our VapoChill and WaterChill brands provided water cooling for CPUs, graphics cards, chipsets, hard drives, and standalone tower servers. Innovations include many industry firsts, ranging from vapor chamber technology; unique pump systems; split flow coldplates; and software to enable the community to monitor and manipulate their cooling systems.

2007-2018

Building a Commercially Viable Company

During our company building phase, we focused resources on providing our OEM partners with liquid cooling solutions that enabled peak performance and that led the industry in quality and reliability. With a keen focus on design and manufacturability, we set our sights on becoming recognized as the provider of choice for premium liquid cooling solutions.

In 2007, our technology was selected to cool HP’s Blackbird 002 Gaming PC. Soon after, our technology was cooling gaming rigs from Acer and Dell-Alienware, and workstations from HP. This was followed by Intel and AMD bringing Asetek-based CPU coolers to market.

Recognizing that our technology is ideally suited for DIY gaming and enthusiast cooling solutions, we began manufacturing AIO liquid coolers for our DIY OEM partners, starting in 2009. Soon most of the DIY suppliers were on board.

We then expanded our focus to the data center market, introducing a range of liquid cooling solutions to increase performance, density and energy efficiency in data centers. By November 2018, our Direct-to-Chip (D2C) liquid cooling technology was cooling thirteen installations on the TOP500 list of the fastest supercomputers in the world, with three of the installations in the TOP20, including the fastest supercomputers in Taiwan and Japan.

Along the way, we announced the completion our initial public offering on March 18, 2013 with shares listed on the main list of the Oslo Stock Exchange.

2019-2020

Returning to Our Roots with Innovation

For more than 20 years, premier thermal solutions from Asetek have been cooling processors around the globe. Our AIO liquid coolers can be found in high-end gaming PC’s and official eSports tournament machines. They are sought-after by enthusiasts for their reliable operation, ease-of-use and pervasive cooling. And, our liquid cooling technology is installed in some of the fastest supercomputers in the world.

We're proud of our history yet recognize that the story could have been better. Innovation – what we do best – slowed as we built up the commercial enterprise we are today.

That’s all about to change. At Asetek, we are returning to our roots, re-embracing the innovative mindset that produced extreme performance products that excite and inspire. Products like the truly unique VapoChill, WaterChill and the original AIO liquid cooler that started the phenomenon we see today.

We are focused on new ways to solve complex thermal challenges, researching new pump designs, new fluid types, new radiator technologies and topologies, and much more. We're innovating to improve high-performance systems. And, innovating with our OEM partners, Gamers and Enthusiasts in mind.

And we continue to innovate to bring advances in performance, increase density in data centers, and enable data centers to reduce their carbon footprint.

With our history of innovation, you know we're up to something good.

2021+

Expansion into the SimSports Gaming Market

Leveraging our extensive capabilities with software, hardware and mechanics, also known as mechatronics, we announced in March 2021 our expansion into the rapidly growing gaming market for sim racing hardware and software.

And in September 2021 we unveiled our initial sim racing products – our premium performance Invicta™ Sim Racing Pedals designed and developed to bring full immersion and real-life racing experiences to sim racers. In March 2022 we started shipping Invicta Sim Racing Pedals and started taking pre-orders on the Invicta™ Throttle Footrest. By April, we introduced and started accepting pre-orders on our Forte® Sim Racing Pedals, Asetek SimSports® Sim Racing Boots, and the Forte® Pedal Plates.

Asetek’s initial sim racing pedals include a throttle and brake pedal, and as an add-on a clutch pedal, along with its custom-made RaceHub™ software for quick and easy adjustments and calibration. Chocked full of innovation, the Invicta Pedals bring SimSports racers full immersion and the feeling of a real racecar, incorporating the extreme performance of hydraulic brake pedals, along with loads of additional innovation from Asetek. The Forte Pedals also focus on full immersion and a real racecar feel, at a price point accessible to many more sim racers. The Forte Pedals incorporate our proprietary high-quality load-cell brake, along with many of the benefits of our premium performance Invicta Pedals.

In 2022, we also unveiled and started shipping the Asetek SimSports Pagani Huayra R Sim Racing Pedals, enabling sim racers and car enthusiasts to virtually experience the rush of driving a real Pagani, the world’s most exclusive hypercar brand.

Also in 2022, we announced our offering of high-performance Invicta™ and Forte® wheelbases and a Forte® Formula wheel; Invicta™ S-Series and Forte® S-Series Throttle and Brake Pedal Sets; and our high-quality and easily upgradeable La Prima™ Bundle, which includes the La Prima™ Throttle and Brake Pedal Set, 12Nm wheelbase, and Formula Wheel, along with an optional La Prima™ Clutch. Add to this, we announced a variety of upgrade kits, which will start shipping in 2023.

Our goal is to develop SimSports products with a true racecar feeling that ignites sim racers’ passion and elevates sim racers’ performance, whatever their level. And we are doing that while providing unique software for easy and simple use, for the ultimate in customization and personalization.
